Lather, Rinse, Rev Up, & Restore

I have to admit it, I have tried so many shampoos and conditioners along with various styling products and I have yet to find the “perfect” ones that are just right for me and my fine Scandinavian hair. I always want my hair to look full and healthy and it can be a real challenge at times.

Tina (one of the owners of Moss Envy) suggested I try our NEW shampoos and conditioners by one of our companies called 100% Pure and share my experience on our Blog. So I jumped at the opportunity to do so! Since we  already carry the 100% Pure Cosmetics at  Moss Envy (which are wonderful by the way),  I thought the shampoos and conditioners would probably be the same quality.

KelpandMintConditionerI started with the Kelp and Mint Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. I put a nickel size amount of the kelp and mint shampoo on my hand and added water. It made a nice sudsy and creamy lather which I then applied to my hair. The scent of the mint was very fresh and uplifting, not to mention invigorating for my scalp.  I then followed with the conditioner and let it set in my hair for about a minute and rinsed.

The end result was that my scalp felt stimulated and my hair looked full and shiny. It also felt hydrated and “not dry”, volumizing shampoos and conditioners can be drying.  Two thumbs up from me so far!

The mint in the shampoo and conditioner helps to promote hair growth and prevents dandruff along with being a stress reducing fragrance.  The kelp opens the hair roots and gives hair an amazing shine and bounce.

honeyandvirgincoconutconditionerThe next 100% Pure hair products that  I tried were the Honey and Virgin Coconut Restorative Shampoo and Conditioner. The shampoo lathered up nicely and the smell was absolutely yummy. It smelled like sweet coconuts and an ocean breeze mixed together.

My hair felt restored by the honey because it supplies moisture, vitamins, and minerals to your hair. The virgin coconut oil replenishes vital oils to give your hair shine and bounce, along with strengthening the hair shaft, which helps to reduce split ends and breakage.  Another two sudsy thumbs up from me!

The Infinity Bed Frame

We were SO thoroughly impressed by one of our artist’s latest work that we just HAD to give it a special shout out! This was a specialized custom design based off of one of the artist’s original designs that sits in the bedroom area of Moss Envy. Our customer’s liked the design on the floor, but needed something more substantial that would make a visual impact and fill the high ceiling-ed space of their bedroom. The staff of Moss Envy worked closely with the couple to visualize their “dream” bed and our artist got to work! There were several slabs of walnut and varying designs that were considered. They LOVED the opportunity to pick the walnut slab and design that spoke to them… this truly made it feel like their bed! The construction is rock-solid and the headboard comes off as a work of art. We named this bed frame, “The Infinity” because the live-edge cut out looks like the infinity symbol and six feet tall it just seems to go on forever! Here’s what makes “The Infinity” one of a kind:

  • Designed and built in Minnesota by a MN artist with Minnesota sourced fallen Walnut
  • Features a mirrored, two toned (heartwood), live edge, peek-a-boo cut headboard
  • Massive side rails that adjust to hold a mattress in platform style or mattress/box spring combo
  • Hand rubbed with 10 to 12 coats of mineral spirits, tung oil, and alkyd varnish

You’re Grounded!

When  you’re  feeling out of sorts from our fast-paced society and all of our electronic gadgets, do you ever feel you need to re-balance yourself in some way?

barefoot_walkingA great way to bring balance back into your life is by using a mindful technique called Grounding. It is a healing energy that reconnects your auric field (aura) with EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) which encompasses  all  human life  forms.

Unfortunately, in our modern life styles we are not living in connection with our true nature , the way traditional cultures have, which can leave us feeling out of  whack. Our electromagnetic field starts to resonate with our computers and other electrical currents in our homes and not with our true harmonious natures.

Some basic grounding techiques can help us get back to our real selves such as; walking bare foot in nature, leaning on a tree, touching a plant, and visualizing the amazing roots of a tree winding their way down through the rich soil of the beautiful earth.

I  personally think another way to ground yourself on an “ongoing” basis is to sleep on a super healthy, organic Savvy Rest  Mattress! The “Eyes” Have It

womanmirrorLet’s see if I can get a show of hands? Have you ever looked in the mirror and asked “Who is that!?” Or maybe that was just me… But if you have, or if you just want to soften those little crow’s feet that have walked their way  onto your beautiful face, raise that  dry, chapped hand, high. Winter can be so beautiful with it’s shimmery white snow falls and frozen surfaces. But when spring graces us with more hours of sunlight, we also have more light to see the damage done by highway salting and new ruts. Well, now the sad truth. We are not so unlike the landscape that has been scared by winter’s offerings. Except we can navigate our new terrain with greater ease than our rusty vehicles can. And with a lot less cost to our pockets.
Let’s start with our “smiling eyes.” I know it feels so good to spread your face cream all the way up to that delicate eye area, but stop! That moisturizer is great for those cheek apples and dry hands, but there is too much water content for the area around our eyes. The proof is in the “puffiness.” Just like when we cry, we naturally retain water around our eyes. I can’t afford at this place in “the game” of aging to hold water anywhere. So off to the tester unit I fly, at least once in my busy day at the store. Nestled between my favorite eye pencil (black pearl) and my favorite eye friendly mascara, rests my beloved eye cream tester. Why “beloved” you may ask. Because without my caffeine/coffee bean (a natural diuretic) based eye cream, I would look like a CoffeeBeanEyeCreamboxer who has spent too may rounds in the ring before they clang the bell. Awwwww my, what one drop dabbed around my eye can achieve. My smile is softer, and  I know I have given myself an instant “beauty treatment.”  Tonight I will treat my delicate eye area, yet again, to a drink from my own little tube of 100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream. And at $9.95 a tube, I might just buy one for my purse.
After this long winter, I’m not going to stop at my eyes. No sir. Just as they will be resurfacing the roads, and repairing Mother Nature’s handy work, I am going to jump right in and get my skin on the road to a healthy glow. I have my jar in hand and I am looking forward to the gentle way it will brighten, and nourish my dull looking skin, while I sleep!
